Just like their other products: awesome,
This is pretty much what you expect. Well built, durable, accurate design and construction. It is harder to secure than a bench mounted one, but for me, I only use it where I *have* to (e.g. putting pocket holes in the end of a heavy 2x6x10) and that’s the consequence I expect. If you have the Kreg Jig system and don’t have this and need it, it’s a welcome addition to the Kreg arsenal.

|Arrived ahead of estimated arrival.,
This came free with the Kreg pockethole kit that I have purchased. I have not used it yet, but seems like it could come in handy for projects where the pockethole would need to be drilled in place.

|no thinking involved,
i was going to buy another pocket hole system until i saw a demo on this….wow…talk about easy…..slide wood in, press down clamp, and drill….perfect everytime………no measurements need to be taken on wood size or drill size….drill stops automatically, no matter what size wood…this tool is really well thought out…one side of unit shows the size of screws you will need as soon as the board is clamped…also has bit rest and automatic collar calibration, both included….on the other side holds two (also included) different size square bits for screwing….hook up your shop vacuum and there is a place for the hose to connect and suck out debris…also, when using a long piece of wood that requires holding due to the weight or balance, the unit has been built so that a scrap 2×4 is all that is required to hold a long board level with the unit…it is also built to work at 90 degrees for odd size jobs…has holes in base for mounting in either position…this is worth every cent….i bought mine on sale locally and paid $189….

|porter cable quick jig 560,
I JUST PURCHASED THE PORTER CABLE 560 QUICK POCKET HOLE JIG AND ALL I CAN SAY IS, THAT IT IS A GREAT JIG. I OWN A KREG JIG AND IT IS A VERY EXCELLENT TOOL. THE 560 IS STRONGLY BUILT OF ALUMINUM CASTING AND A VERY STRONG PLASTIC HOUSING, IT’S WT. IS 8LBS, THERE IS NOTHING CHEAP ABOUT THIS TOOL. IT IS A BIT PRICEY BUT YOU WON’T BE DISSATISFIED. THE ONE THING KREG HAS OVER THIS TOOL IS PORTABILITY, WITH THE KREG YOU CAN TAKE THE JIG OFF IT’S BASE AND USE IT ANYWHERE.
THE PORTER CABLE JIG FOR ME IS MORE OF A SHOP ONLY TOOL, BUT ONCE YOU SET THE DRILL BIT COLLAR YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO SET IT AGAIN AND THE JIG WHEN SET FOR YOUR STOCK HAS A SIDE INDICATOR TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT SIZE SCREW TO USE. THE KREG DRILL BIT WITH COLLAR IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE 560 JIG. THE 560 DRILL BIT IS MORE THAN 2″ LONGER THAN THE KREG. THE SCREW DRIVER BITS ARE COMPATIBLE. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE QUICK POCKET HOLES THE PORTER CABLE JIG IS IT. IT CAN BE MOUNTED ON YOUR BENCH OR PIECE OF PLYWOOD AND CLAMPED. I PURCHASED MINE FOR $209.00 AT
TOOL-PLUS, ALSO CHECK IT OUT ON YOUTUBE FOR A DEMO.

|Very Nice. Solid, Accurate.,
This jig is great. Very solid. No need for a case. The plastic parts are a very hard polymer. Not the chincy stuff on the Kreg jig. CPO Porter Cable sells this cheap. I bought this new from cpoworkshop for $150 which is the same as a Kreg K3 Master System.
I wouldn’t consider the K4 because they moved the clamp to the wrong side of the tool. More profitable for them I am sure. I like how it is once solid piece. Not a bunch of parts I have to keep track of. I don’t have to screw and unscrew the dust collection. They say you have to take the dust collection off when you flip the tool on it’s back… but that’s only if you don’t feel like letting the dust collection port hang off the table. Which it definitely does just fine. Especially if you screw it in place. While drilling the shavings drop down into the dust collection shoot automatically.
I have heard a lot of dedicated Kreg folk out there try to drum up reason that this tool is “over engineered” (very well designed), or “to big” (made with good materials) or “too complicated” (too simple). Translation: “I wish I had one but don’t want to admit it.”
If you need to do Pocket Holes on something larger than a 2X4 in thickness (which you shouldn’t) you can get a $10 +/- single clamp on pocket hole jig from harbor freight or Kreg. Really you should move to a different type of join with larger pieces of stock.
